GLOBAL DIALOGUES FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

ABOUT THE GLOBAL DIALOGUES

The Global Dialogues is an International Initiative of various individuals, organisations, and networks that have joined together with the shared intention to provide a creative platform for people to express their views, concerns, ideas, and suggestions for the future that we want.

The Global Dialogues will culminate into a Dialogue Event during Stockholm+40 International Conference on Sustainable Development in April, and a huge event called “1000 Round Tables” as a side event of the United Nations’ Rio+20 Conference. The aim of these dialogues is to nurture and guide world leaders at these conferences, and inspire them to take decisions in line with what we, as a society, want to create together. For more information read our blog on Global Dialogues.

WHY YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS

Your participation contributes to and will feed into a larger process of decision making and information sharing at a global level, and aims to nurture the growing movement of global citizens who are willing to be the change that is needed to create a more sustainable society and future. By participating in the Dialogue process you are directly contributing to this growing movement and are able to contribute in a positive way to the kind of actions that will make a difference. The following countries are already participating and more will follow: Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, USA, Italy, Brazil, New Zealand, Spain, UK, Mauritius, Burundi, Mexico, and Portugal.

THE GLOBAL DIALOGUE PROCESS

The Global Dialogue is a 5 step process – connect, envision, engage, reflect, and share – that inspires people to envision the future they want, while providing the space and support to also explore how to bring what we want into action. Through co-creative exercises and co-learning processes participants are moving through a journey of the future they would like to create and learn how to reflect together on their role and contribution to these outcomes. At the end of the process, participants are encouraged to form action-teams with those they feel naturally aligned and inspired to continue their co-creative explorations with.

GLOBAL DIALOGUES MAURITIUS

ELIA is working together with local volunteers and partner organisations to host the dialogues in Mauritius and New Zealand. A website and an e-platform will soon be online to support the implementations of the dialogue outcomes, and provide information about all the individuals and organisations involved.

ELIA launched the first Dialogue the 11th of February. It was a great success. Everybody contributed and we all felt energised and inspired during and after the event. It really demonstrated that the time for change is NOW. For pictures of the event click here. To read more about the experience click here.

We are now looking for partners and sponsors to continue this movement with us. The intention is to host at least 10 dialogues; for the general public, private sector, NGOs, students and their teachers, and specific groups / communities over the coming 5 months. For those who are interested to join the team or feel called to contribute in any way, please contact Anneloes via mob: (+230) 791 0934 or via our Contact Form.

REGISTRATION AND ENQUIRIES

The dialogue is a free event; donations are welcome to support us in continuing these events. The next dialogue will be held on the 25th of February:  9am – 2pm.
