In 2011 ELIA started its Ecological Literacy Programme (ELP) for 18 Secondary Schools in Mauritius part of the Bureau de l’Education Catholique (BEC) Network. In 2013 the Programme evolved to Education for Sustainability (EfS), which was implemented in 3 Secondary pilot Schools part of the BEC networks in their curriculum activities.

The Education for Sustainability (EFS) Programme

The EfS programme for the 3 BEC pilot Schools started in January 2013. The pilot Schools are: Loreto College Curepipe, St Mary’s College, and BPS Fatima in Goodlands. ELIA developed with its partners an Education for Sustainability platform in 2014 to further provide resources and share best practices for EfS. The management of the EfS programme and its platform has been transferred to Earthwise Centre since July 2015. Earthwise Centre was created to continue the work that ELIA started and take it further.
